Students of Grizzly Hill School are having an art exhibition through the month of October at North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center.

A student reception is set from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cultural Center.

North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center is located on 17894 Tyler Foote Crossing Road on the San Juan Ridge.



Grizzly Hill is a kindergarten through eighth grade school of 93 students at 16661 Old Mill Road.

The drama department of Nevada Union High School is presenting a showcase for monologues at 7 p.m. Friday at the Black Box Theatre.

Admission is by donation only; members of the audience are encouraged to pay what they can. NU’s Black Box Theatre is at Room A1, behind the cafeteria, 11761 Ridge Road, Grass Valley.

Local jazz musician Bill Douglass is hosting a jazz workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 13 and Oct. 27 at him home in Chicago Park.

The workshop is open to people of all ages. Those playing an instrument must have the basic skills.

The cost to attend is $25, payable at the door. For more information and for directions, call Douglass at 273-5489.

Gold Country Computer Learning Center, a local nonprofit organization, is hosting a digital photographers’ group meeting from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at the community center in the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

Photography specialists and technicians will answer questions about digital cameras. If you’re thinking about buying a digital camera, or if you’ve bought one and want to transfer your photos to your computer, or if you want to know how to edit and share your digital photos with your friends, this user group is for you.

Sierra Community Chorus and Adventure Christian Church in Roseville is presenting a program of inspirational music on Oct. 19 and 20 at the church.

The musical performance will include selections from “Hairspray,” “Annie,” and “Les Miserables.” Members of the Sierra Community Chorus students at Sierra College.

Performance start at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and 2 p.m. Oct. 20 at Adventure Christian Church, 6401 Stanford Ranch Road, Roseville.
