Leah Montgomery

Visitation for family and friends of Leah Arlene Montgomery of Grass Valley will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.

Mrs. Montgomery died Wednesday, Jan. 5, in Grass Valley. She was 86.

She was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Ainsworth, Neb., to Harry and Viola Turpitt. She owned and operated a cleaning business and held other various jobs. She was a member of the Welcome Wagon Committee and the Foothill Women’s Club. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and she was a sports fan.



She is survived by her sons Don Osborn, Dean Osborn, Ken Osborn, Larry Tuttle, Bruce Tuttle, Robert Montgomery and Daniel Montgomery; daughter, Mary Tahash; 26 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, daughter, two sisters and three brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
