Lead by example

I drove past Weaver Auto the other night in my ’84 Volkswagen Rabbit diesel which I blend with 20-30 percent recycled vegetable oil and get 40 plus m.p.g. I observed the excessive glaring lights, the large American flags and the rows of large, shiny, gas-guzzling, American-made vehicles, which they hope to sell to large, over-consumptive Americans.

Although I’m not perfect, far from it, I try to be a good American by being energy and environmentally responsible. I recycle, compost, have a large vegetable garden, a photovoltaic system and a solar shower. I ride by bike when I can and when I drive, I drive my little VW Rabbit. Weaver’s excessive use of electricity is wasteful and an embarrassment to our community. Why not be an American leader in energy conservation? Tone down the lights and install a photovoltaic system. You get plenty of sun. America is the greatest country in the world; let’s start acting like it. Be responsible; think about America’s future.
