Lawrence Ellsworth

Memorial services for Lawrence William Ellsworth of Grass Valley will be conducted at 7 p.m. tonight at the Church of the Nazarene on Hughes Road in Grass Valley.



Mr. Ellsworth died Friday, Feb. 1. He was 88.




He was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Michigan Bluff to William and Henrietta Ellsworth. He graduated from Vallejo High School in 1934. He married Dorothy Violet Randall on Aug. 16, 1937.

He worked in several occupations, including firefighting and as a milkman for Golden State Dairy in Vallejo. He lived in Hayward and owned a bicycle shop in San Mateo for 20 years. He retired in 1980 in Marysville and moved to Grass Valley in 1997. He enjoyed baseball, football and gardening.

He is survived by daughters Sharon Cobbold of Marysville and Marilyn Liszak Ellsworth of Grass Valley; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1995.
