Laura Jones

Services for Laura Lucille Jones of Grass Valley will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Live Oak Cemetery, 3545 Pennington Road in Live Oak.



Mrs. Jones died Tuesday, April 16, in Carmichael. She was 83.




She was born on Feb. 6, 1919, in Anderson, Ala., to Joseph M. Nesmith and Lillie M. Rollins. She received an associate of arts degree from Yuba College.

She was retired from the Sutter County Probation Department. She was a member of the Nevada County Travel Club, Widows Club and the Pinochle Club. She enjoyed traveling and a monthly luncheon group.

She is survived by her sister, Anna Mae Berry of Live Oak; sons Jerry Jones and Phil Jones of Grass Valley and Keith Jones of Greenwood, Ark.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Jones, in 1969, and granddaughter Geri Lee Jones in 1969.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Institute, 1170 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1605.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
