Kudos to Firefighters

We are writing to express our appreciation to all the firefighters who responded to the house fire on Tribulation Trail in Nevada City on Aug. 12 (Page 1 of The Union, Aug. 13). Our house is right next door to the one that burned, and we also own one of the houses just across the trail from the fire.

Because the fire started on the side of the house farthest from ours, we were unaware of the problem until the first responders arrived. There were frightening moments, but we were amazed at how quickly the firefighters were able to extinguish the worst of the flames and prevent the fire from spreading. We were also very impressed by the efficiency of the whole crew and also by how well the different fire departments (Nevada City, Grass Valley, N.C.C., etc.) worked together.

We in Nevada City are very fortunate to be served by such excellent local fire departments. And we are so grateful to all who helped save our homes.
