Kudos to ECOs club and Caroline Cox

Thanks to the ECOs club and Caroline Cox for a spectacular earth day celebration April 22 at the Sierra Community College themed “SOS – Solutions and Opportunities for Sustainability.”

There were dozens of local green organizations tabling out the courtyard: Apple-NC, Powerup-NC, KVMR, Peace Center, local authors, Sierra Club, Briar Patch to name a few. The local entertainment included Izzy Tooinsky’s comedy and juggling, Anthony Savedra and friends, the Wickermen, Earth Rhymes with Cai Sorlien, Bob Scarlett Drum ensemble, Gavin the Conscious rapper, Lovie Bucknell’s dance group among others. I got a strong sense of optimism of new business opportunities in sustainability, clean technologies, and health, something that could turn around our depressed economy and job market.

I hope the administration opens up the campus to more events like other schools such as Berkeley, Davis, and Chico, reinstating the thinking films of last year. It would be nice to know that our taxes are going to new construction producing more venue space for such inspirational environmental economical events. I have more to look forward to at the Loma Rica Earth day Celebration May 3, thank you Beth Moore for bringing it together.
