Library Aid Telethon was fun and raised money for our libraries. We thank those who made this possible: NCTV (Lew and Paul, you rock!), Denise Dunlap, Citizen’s Bank, McSweeney & Assoc., Tomes Books, Harmony Books, The Bookseller, Carol’s Recycled Books, Randy Griffis, Hal Baker, SPD, Briar Patch, Raley’s, KNCO, KVMR, The Union, Ben Franklin Arts & Crafts, William’s Stationary, Walker’s Office Supply, B&C Hardware, Alan and Janet Archer, and the Library Foundation.

Thanks to the authors, book donors, performers, readers and volunteers. Thanks for supporting our libraries.

While using the kiosk photo machine at CVS Pharmacy on Combie Road, a customer mistakenly took my jacket for hers and walked off with my car keys and car remote. She used the kiosk but accidentally only included six of her seven-digit phone number. It was unclear what digit was missing.

Chandre went way above and beyond her employment status calling every sequence possible to find the correct phone number of the customer to help me retrieve my keys.

Thank you, Chandre for not only being a valued employee of CVS, but also my valued friend.

On behalf of Nevada Union students and staff, we would like to thank our community for the successful fundraiser Saturday night that featured Brian Shul, a retired SR-71 pilot who shared his fighter pilot and SR-71 experiences.

We would especially like to thank Dan and Joanne Castles for their efforts to organize the event, local businesses and community members for sponsoring the event, Twin Cities Church for allowing the use of their facilities, and The Union for featuring the event in advance.

Shul is truly a dynamic speaker whose anecdotes and video are not only informative but also inspirational. All who were able to attend thoroughly enjoyed his performance.

Thanks to all involved, Nevada Union classrooms will benefit, as the proceeds will go toward supplies.

Once again, when times get tough, this community pulls together to show its support for our young people. Thank you.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Cheryl Wicks and Sammie’s Friends for being so generous and covering veterinary bills for Joy.

Chow Chow Rescue and Mystery Mutts rescued Joy and her siblings and mother four days before Christmas.

Joy found a wonderful warm loving family. Unfortunately the family kitty felt displaced. A confrontation occurred and Joy was scratched in her eye. Joy will lose her eye.

Again thank you Cheryl for covering her expenses. Cheryl, I know Sammy and Chow Mein are looking down at us and saying “Go Girls Go!”
