Kudos letters: Oct. 31, 2009
Scooter’s Pals is immensely grateful to the people in our community who participated in our Sept. 26 Second Annual Silent Auction and Benefit and made it so successful.
In these times of economic struggle it is even more essential we help those least able to help themselves. Our businesses, artists and community members, including those far and wide, certainly outdid themselves in helping us this year. As always The Union’s support is much appreciated. We are also much obliged to Papa Wheelies for donating the Lance Scooter!
As an all-volunteer, last chance dog rescue, Scooter’s Pals could not function without our supporters’ help. Your support and generosity will help us to save the lives of dogs that would otherwise die in shelters.
Funds raised will allow us to continue to fully vaccinate these dogs, spay and neuter them, test and treat them for heart worms, microchip them, and ultimately find them loving forever homes.
The memory of Scooter lives on – she did not die in vain. Kudos to those of you who help us save and improve the lives of abandoned dogs.

The Senior Writers give many thanks to the sponsors of our quarterly magazine, WE WRITE! In our publication, we write our memories, our poems, our stories, our travels, our thoughts on the ways of the world, and a bit of humor.
We sincerely appreciate The Swiss House Restaurant and Alta Sierra Family Automotive for their continued interest in supporting our efforts. We also thank the Eastridge Senior Apartment complex for allowing us to use their meeting room every week. This weekly meeting is a high point for all of us.
My sweet puppy, Bambina, recently broke her leg very badly while playing ball. The cost of surgery was staggering, and it looked like my only option would be to have her leg amputated. Sammie’s Friends came to her rescue and helped pay for surgery to save her leg!
You can see pictures of Bambina at http://www.sammiesfriends.org and read about the great work they are doing.
Bambina and I are so very grateful to both Sammie’s Friends and Dr. Van Geem and staff at Mother Lode Veterinary Clinic. Thank you all so much!

To the nursing staff at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, my daughters and I want to thank you so much for the kindness and wonderful care you gave to my husband, Bill Wilbanks, on his numerous trips to the hospital.
Thank you for making his last trip a painless and calming journey. It was a comfort to us knowing he was in such capable loving hands.

Recently my car broke down on Highway 49. Fortunately, I was in a place where I could pull over. I want to thank the seven people who took time from their busy lives to see whether I needed help. God bless you!
I would also like to comment on the photographs which appear on the second page of The Union. One picture is more beautiful than the one before. Thanks for some amazing shots!
