Kudos: Free skin cancer screenings

Free skin cancer screenings

In 1990, The Sierra Nevada Cancer Center began conducting free skin cancer screenings with the help of Dr. Haines Ely and has held three or four a year since then.

Three years ago, Dr. Matthew Muellenhoff began participating in these screenings as well. The screenings are always well attended, but this last one, held July 7, takes the prize. More than 250 people showed up and were screened by Dr. Ely. I want to thank Dr. Ely and the volunteers for their hard work and extra effort (staying two hours longer than expected).

I want to thank The Union staff for their excellent support of the event. And, I want to thank all the people who showed up and patiently and good naturedly waited, some up to two and a half hours, for their two minutes with Dr. Ely.

It was a very, very successful skin cancer screening.
