Klein Why this report now?

Klein: Why this report now?

I read the report that Aaron Klein brought before the Sierra College board of trustees last week, after it was sent to the press, of course.

My first question is why now? Klein is 46 months into the 48 months he was elected to serve, and he is just now coming up with ideas to improve the infrastructure at Sierra College? Call me a cynic but could this just be an election year ploy?

By comparison, his colleague, Bill Martin, who has served less than two years on the board, has published several newspaper columns and reports to the public. Martin’s reports are based on facts, figures and hours of analysis and comparisons to community colleges in our state, unlike Klein’s smoke-and-mirrors proposal – federal and state tax dollars, instead of local.

Personally, I will trust Martin’s educated research (Stanford and MIT graduate) over Klein’s research at this point.

I do know how Klein can raise money for our college. He can write a check for $600,000. This might cover the financial cost the college incurred when Klein went on his self-serving witch hunt of former President Kevin Ramirez. As a trustee, Klein is bound by the promise he made when he took the oath of office as a trustee: to protect the interests of the college. He sorely failed. Had he waited 18 months for Ramirez’ contract to run out, we still would have had a new president and the college would not have suffered.
