Ken Harris, director of Community Players’ production of “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” by Robert Fulghum, didn’t go to kindergarten.

It was 1939, and that grade wasn’t offered when Harris was growing up in Southern California.

That’s OK, though.

Through the comedy-drama-musical that opens Friday at the City Centre Playhouse, Harris has a better glimpse of what happens in kindergarten.

“Fulghum and I agree about many things in life,” Harris joked. “So naturally, I think he’s brilliant.

“If all of us actually learned the rules of behavior taught in kindergarten, and if we retained the fresh point of view and the ability to appreciate from when we were 5 years old, that would be a sort of paradise, even without the book of verse and jug of wine,” Harris said.

The play includes Harris, Skip and Trudy Tyrrell; Connie Ferrin, Johnathon Gangemi and Melinda L. Thomas.
