If one of your New Year’s resolutions just happens to be increasing your appreciation for what this area offers, then Sundays are your lucky days.

That’s when you can watch the Rough and Ready Fruit Jar Pickers at the heated Rough and Ready Opry Palace between the wedding chapel and the blacksmith’s shop, across the street from the General Store. The bluegrass group’s standing gig is 10 a.m. to noon Sundays off of Rough and Ready Highway.

With the Fruit Jar Pickers, expect to hear old-time country and a little bit of everything else sandwiched in between the bluegrass ditties. Audience members can’t just listen; they’re strongly encouraged to sing-along with the more than 20 Fruit Jar Pickers members. Songbooks are handed out so the audience can join in the merriment.

There’s no admission charge to these sing-alongs. Since there are no chairs, audience members should bring their own.

Call Everette Burkard, the group’s leader and dobro player at 432-1501 for any questions.
