Kerry and Catholicism

John Kerry would do well to refer himself to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the document that contains all the official teachings of the Roman Catholic faith, before he shamelessly proclaims himself in a nationally broadcast presidential debate to be both Roman Catholic and pro-abortion rights.

According to this document in Sections 2272 and 2273, “…The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life” (abortion). And it further states: “The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation… When the state does not place its power at the service of the rights of each citizen, and in particular of the more vulnerable, the very foundations of a state based on law are undermined.”

In other words, Senator Kerry, it is true: You cannot be both Roman Catholic and a pro-abortion advocate. Recall your mother’s dying words before you try to be both, John Kerry, “Remember, integrity, integrity, integrity!”

My vote goes to the man who has the courage to take a seemingly unpopular position: to build a “culture of life” where “every child is protected and welcomed.” Now that’s integrity.
