Kerry a class act

Who do you want in charge of the nation during a dire emergency, when every moment counts big:

George Bush sits for seven minutes reading to children after he learns our country is under attack.

John Kerry steps off an elevator to find staunch conservative Chic Hecht choking to death. Kerry acts instantly, performing the Heimlich maneuver four times. Dr. Heimlich said a delay of 30 seconds might have left Hecht a vegetable. Not a 30 second delay compared to 7 minutes. Pretty obvious who you want in charge in an emergency, huh?

But the media missed the point: “The story has a twist of irony: Hecht was up for re-election that year, and Kerry, . . . chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, had pegged Hecht as one of the most vulnerable Republican seats.”

Irony is a result different than one might usually expect. So, the media suggests that Kerry would normally not be expected to want to save Hecht’s life. That’s absurd.

John Kerry has true character. He instantly did the right thing for someone holding radically different political views from himself. There’s not a hint of irony here ” just further evidence that Senator Kerry is a totally class act.
