Kenneth Pratt

Graveside services for Kenneth Gerald Pratt of Sacramento were conducted Tuesday at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mr. Pratt died Thursday, Oct. 31. He was 85.



He was born July 17, 1917, in Beatrice, Neb., to the Rev. Arthur Lee Pratt and Clara Mahres Pratt.

He spent his early years on the East Coast and in the Watsonville and Oakland areas.




His family moved to Grass Valley when he was 14. After graduating from Grass Valley High School, he attended Sierra College while working at Empire Mine.

He transferred to the University of the Pacific, where he earned his mechanical engineering license.

He then worked for McClellan Air Force Base and obtained his degree from Sacramento State University.

He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and a 50-year charter member of Oak Plains Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis “Mitz” Pratt; sons and daughters-in-law Allen and Marcia Pratt and Arthur “Skip” and Leslie Pratt; grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law Katie Pratt, Tim and Anglea Pratt, Brandy and Donald Mealor, Christopher Pratt, David and Michelle King; and great-grandson, Brian King.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heifer Project International, c/o St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 2741 St. Marks Way, Sacramento 95825.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
