Kenneth Pipkin

Memorial services for Kenneth L. Pipkin of Grass Valley will be conducted at a later date.



Mr. Pipkin died Wednesday, Feb. 27, at a local hospital. He was 87.




He was born April 15, 1914, in Monson to William and Hope Pipkin. Mr. Pipkin graduated from Delano High School and lived in Shafter for more than 35 years. He lived in Nevada County for the past year. He married Berit Johnson on Nov. 21, 1937, in Delano.

Mr. Pipkin worked for the Richland School District in Shafter as director of building, grounds and transportation for 33 years. He was a member of the Shafter Lions Club and served on the Shafter Planning Commission. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America for more than 20 years of service to scouting.

He is survived by his wife, Berit Pipkin of Grass Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Mary Pipkin of Penn Valley; grandson, Kevin Pipkin of Castro Valley; granddaughter, Karen Gregg of Castro Valley; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
