Keep a watchful eye on your Nevada County tax assessor

Our tax assessor is doing it again: raising our evaluations on personal property to raise revenues.

My new boat value went from $13,348 up to $17,303. When I asked what guide they used, the tax assessor said they had their own appraisers.

When I called my insurance company (USAA) and my boat mechanic, they said the boat would not appraise over $12,000.

I sent this information in and still have not received a reply, just a bill for $176.88.

I am going to fight this by asking for a hearing as I want some service for the extra $40 to $50 I am wrongly being overcharged.

I hope those of you who are also being overcharged will fight this, also.
