Katis resigns from high school board

Jon Katis, who served Bear River High School-area residents as a trustee on the Nevada Joint Union High School District, has resigned.

Katis, who has moved out of the south county area into Grass Valley, sent Superintendent Maggie Deetz a letter of his resignation effective Sept. 22.

Deetz received the letter Tuesday.

Katis was elected to a four-year term on the board in November 2002. He has a daughter who attends Bear River High School.

Deetz has set a tentative timetable to fill Katis’ term on the board. Applications for the seat, which expires in November 2006, will be available at the district office and at Bear River High School beginning Monday, Oct. 4 and are due to the district by Oct. 25. Deetz has tentatively set a Nov. 10 special meeting to interview all applicants for the position.
