Kathleen English-Pitts

Kathleen English-Pitts died Oct. 5, 2006, of breast cancer. She was 51.

At her passing, she was surrounded by family: her husband of 21 years, Larry; son, Tom; and daughter, Michelle.

Mrs. English-Pitts was born Feb. 14, 1945, in Southern California, where she grew up. She spent much of her free time at her family’s cabin in Big Bear.

She moved to Nevada County in 1980, finding the artistic inspiration she had sought. She showed her paintings throughout Nevada County, including at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where she later was treated with the utmost care and respect by the staff during her terminal battle with cancer.

Those who knew Mrs. English-Pitts remember her as being full of love for family and friends. They remember her deep appreciation of nature and its changing seasons, her treating her cats as if they were her children, and her birthday rum cake.

Mrs. English-Pitts’ family would like to thank SNMH and Hospice of the Foothills for being with them during their difficult time and The Union for helping them begin their process of acceptance.
