Katherine Watson

A Catholic Mass for Katherine Fiori Watson of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grass Valley. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Watson died Sunday, Jan. 16, in Grass Valley. She was 95.

She was born June 8, 1909, in Clifford, Ill., to Mary Erio Fiori and Barney Fiori. She graduated from Commerce High School in San Francisco. She married Malcolm J. Watson on Aug. 1, 1934, in Reno, Nev. She worked for Bank of America in San Francisco and DeWitt State Hospital in Auburn. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies, Girl Scouts, and PTA in Grass Valley. She enjoyed reading, cooking and music.



She is survived by her daughter, Barbara W. Smith of Sacramento; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law Karen and Eric Mandell of Carmichael, Cynde and Eric Brooks of Grass Valley, and Monica and Craig Slavin of Redondo Beach; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Stephen and Laura Smith of Sacramento; and great-grandchildren Jennifer and Stephanie Brooks of Grass Valley, Sophia Slavin of Redondo Beach, and Caroline Smith of Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm J. Watson in 1981.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
