Just stirring controversy?

Help me. I’m trying to get a handle on this Conklin thing ” you know, going to work on the Julia Morgan house after losing his Supervisor’s seat by 19 votes. Is that the only job for which he applied? Would you have soiled your editorial pages if he had taken a job with, say, Miner’s Foundry (he helped them get a new roof), St. Joseph’s Cultural Center (helped them survive, too), Loma Rica Ranch (worked to preserve it), community access television (he was the only member of the Board of Supervisors to show up at reform meetings), United Way (he served on its board), Grass Valley Airport (he helped it keep its federal rating), or any one of many non-profits who focus on disability and access to health care (he supported them in person and with action)?

Bruce Conklin has supported community assets for years whether he was on the Board or not. Are we no longer allowed to follow our passions for the common good without being treated by the press as rape victims who “deserved it?”

Will the reader get who, what, where, when, why and how, or only the part the editors feel will stir controversy?
