Judy Murphy

Memorial services for Judy Charlotte Murphy of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Abundant Life Church and will be officiated by Pastor Sam Floyd.

Mrs. Murphy died Sunday, Feb. 28. She was 88.

She was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Hettinger, N.D., to Carl Ferdinand and Ora Irene Frysig. She attended Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. She worked briefly in the Seattle shipyards during the war as a secretary and then moved to Berkeley. She retired after 25 years as an executive secretary for the Director of Research with Stauffer Chemical Company in Richmond. After her retirement she moved to Grass Valley to live by her daughter and son-in-law. She was a seamstress and enjoyed all types of music, gardening and cooking and entertaining.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cosick of Grass Valley; son, Mark Murphy of Spokane, Wash.; granddaughter, Amber Elliott of Grass Valley; and great-grandchildren William Elliott and Gabrielle Tietjen.
