Joseph Minter

Services for Joseph Minter of Nevada City will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. A gathering for family and friends will follow at the family home.

Mr. Minter died Monday, July 19, in Grass Valley. He was 86.

He was born April 14, 1918, in Little Rock, Ark., to Grover and Johanna Minter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He married Ruth L. Miller on Oct. 13, 1942, in New York, N.Y. He worked for the State of California Department of Finance for 30 years, the last four he was the Chief of the Auditors Division. After his retirement, he worked for James Young CPA Firm in Grass Valley. He was a Mason.



He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Minter; daughters Susan K. Water and Judith L. Hill; and grandchildren Cynthia Bowman, Mackenzie Bowman, and Kenneth Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s local church.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
