Joseph Hoberman

Graveside services for Joseph “Joe” Hoberman of Grass Valley will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.

Mr. Hoberman died Wednesday, June 16, at home. He was 80.

He was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Bayonne, N.J., to Jacob and Miltilda Hoberman. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1947 and 38 years in the Naval Reserves. He married Elizabeth on Sept. 6, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a retired salesman. He was a member of the Fleet Reserves, No. 296. He enjoyed cooking, traveling and getting together with family and friends.



He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hoberman of Grass Valley; daughter, Andrea Hoberman of Grass Valley; stepdaughters Yvonne Young and Claudette Clary. both of Grass valley; stepson, George Funck of Death Valley; sister, Estelle Dahlberg of New Jersey; brother, George Hoberman of New Jersey; two grandsons; four granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
