Join male voice choir for songs, ice cream social

A free concert sung by the Grass Valley Male Voice Choir will be followed by an old-fashioned ice cream social Saturday, July 14, at United Methodist Church of Grass Valley, 263 S Church St., Grass Valley.

The concert, which starts at 3 p.m., includes show tunes and light, fun music. Several choir members will sing solos.

The ice cream social will be held in the fellowship hall following the concert. Space for the social is limited, so a ticket is necessary, and tickets cost a suggested donation of $10. Purchase them from choir members or at The Bookseller in Grass Valley.

A variety of ice cream, including sugar free, will be served with different toppings. And still the music continues, with more from the choir and a sing-along to boot. Guests may also “tip” the waiters (actually, members of the choir), who will sing requested songs.

The Grass Valley Male Voice Choir, under the direction of Eleanor Kenitzer, has been performing for 10 years, continuing the Cornish tradition of singing heard in Nevada County since the Gold Rush. Contact John Bush at (530) 271-2042 or johnb@bushplace.com for more information.
