John Zunino

A memorial Mass will be celebrated for John Louis Zunino of Sonora today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora.

Mr. Zunino died Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Sonora Community Hospital. He was 70.



He was born on July 25, 1931, in Oakland. He was raised in Grass Valley and attended Nevada Union High School. He graduated from Armstrong Business College in Oakland. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Sue in 1955.




He worked for Kraft General Foods Corp. as an accountant for 35 years. In Sonora, he was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, SIRS Branch No. 136 and the Figili D’Italia Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Zunino, of Sonora; daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Joseph Gill of Fort Collins, Colo.; sons and daughters-in-law John and Terri Zunino of San Lorenzo, Rick and Kim Zunino of Manteca and Jim and Cheryl Zunino of Castro Valley; son, Bob Zunino of San Francisco; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Pat Brecht of Oakdale; one nephew; one niece; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Inter-Faith Community Social Service, P.O. Box 5070, Sonora, CA 95370; American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 73, Jamestown, CA 95327; or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 116 Bradford, Sonora, CA 95370.

Arrangements are under the direction of Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora.
