John Willey

John N. Willey, 90, of Colfax, formerly of Grass Valley, died Saturday, Feb. 12. in Auburn.

No services are planned.

Mr. Willey was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Anaconda, Mont., to Frank. N. and Alice (Murphy) Willey. He graduated from high school in Utah and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression. He worked as an operating engineer for more than 50 years in northern California. He married Phyllis Sins on Feb. 14, 1977, in Grass Valley and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mr. Willey enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening.



He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Phyllis Willey of Colfax; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and George Rausch of Reno; son John E. Willey of Colorado Springs; grandchildren Andrew, Hannah Jean, and Ruth Willey of Colorado, Guy and Pat Rausch of Mansfield, Ohio, and Jason and Erin Rausch of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren Matthew Rausch of Mansfield, Ohio and Jennifer Rausch of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Frank, Norman and Robert Willey; sister Marie; and his first wife, Loah Jean.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
