John Stewart

John “Jack” Stewart died May 21, 2007, in Stockton. He was 90 years and one month old.

In accordance with his wishes, no funeral service or memorial will be held.

Jack was a longtime Danville and Penn Valley resident. He was born in San Francisco to Sophia Hock Stewart and John Blanchard Stewart. He served in the U.S. Army in New Guinea during World War II and retired as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was a very proud and longtime member of the Freemasons, Jesters and the Aahmes Shriners. He was also an avid golfer, musician and a docent at the Empire Mine state park.



Jack was renowned for his sense of humor and sharp wit. He was loved dearly by his family and many lifelong friends.

Words are inadequate to express our grief at his passing and the great loss of our loving father and friend.




Jack is survived by his loving daughter, Susan Marie Stewart of Westport Island, Maine; son, Jon L. Stewart of Bethel Island; daughter-in-law, Kathleen McLellan Stewart, and grandsons Ian Joseph Stewart and Michael John Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Marie Kennedy Stewart.
