John Snyder

Visitation for family and friends of John “Crazy John” Snyder of Cascade Shores will be conducted noon to 5 p.m. today at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Mr. Snyder died Saturday, Jan. 8. He was 55.

He was born Nov. 19, 1949, in Oildale, to Howard and Virginia Snyder. He graduated from Garden Grove High School in Garden Grove. He moved from Southern California to Nevada City in 1989. For 20 years he worked in engineering drilling. He enjoyed sailing the Fiji Islands on his homemade sailboat.



He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Pete and Vicki Snyder of Nevada City, and Walt and Nina Snyder of New Mexico; sister and brother-in-law, MaryAnn and Richard Sexton of Napa; nieces Madeleine Snyder of Las Vegas, Nev., and Amber Snyder of Napa; nephew, Greg Snyder of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Snyder in 1961; and mother, Virginia Snyder in 1972.
