John Lee McLaughlin died June 17 in Grass Valley. He was 56.

Private services will be held.

Mr. McLaughlin was born Feb. 15, 1952, in Kellogg, Idaho, to John McLaughlin and Faye Schaefer. He graduated from Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Wash., and served in the SP4 Army for two years. He married Catherine S. McLaughlin on April 10, 1970. They were married for 38 years.

Mr. McLaughlin worked at Ironworker Local #14. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his nine grandchildren.

Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his wife, Catherine McLaughlin of Albany, Ore.; sons Ronald and Brett McLaughlin of Albany, Ore.; daughters Tara Thompson of Grass Valley and Susan McLaughlin of Philomath, Ore.; siblings Ronald McLaughlin, James McLaughlin and Wanda Webber; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John; sister, Vicki Sparks, and brother, Mike McLaughlin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
