John Doheny

Services for John Joseph Doheny of Nevada City will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Simon’s Catholic Church in Los Altos. Graveside services will follow at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto.

Mr. Doheny died Thursday, May 2, in Grass Valley. He was 75.

He was born May 31, 1926, in Waltham, Mass., to Patrick Joseph and Margaret Evelyn (Walsh) Doheny. Mr. Doheny served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 in Europe. He graduated from St. Charles High School in Charlestown, Mass., and attended Newton College Preparatory School in Newton, Mass. He owned and operated Cal Do Machine Co. for 33 years. Mr. Doheny was a member of the National Federation of Independent Business and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid 49ers and Raiders fan. He enjoyed his dogs Shamus and Benji, and traveling.



Mr. Doheny is survived by his wife, Anita Marie (Rife) Doheny of Nevada City; daughters Barbara Ann Doheny of Sunnyvale and Janelle Marie Doheny of Santa Clara; sister, Mary Doheny Soderberg of Worcester, Mass.; and brother Robert Doheny of Haddam, Conn. He was preceded in death by brothers Edward Doheny, Henry Doheny and Donal Doheny.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
