Joaquin Veiga

No services will be held for Joaquin D. “Jack” Veiga of Penn Valley. Mr. Veiga died July 9 in Grass Valley. He was 77.

Mr. Veiga was born June 18, 1930, to Joaquin C. Veiga and Stella P. Sylvia in Hanford. He attended Hanford High School, served in the United States Navy and worked as an insurance agent.

On Oct. 1, 2000, he married Millie James-Veiga in Reno, Nev. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Lake Wildwood Men’s Golf Club.

Mr. Veiga is survived by his wife, Millie of Penn Valley; sister, Dorothy Martin of Hanford; sons Mike Veiga of Lemoore, James Veiga of South Lake Tahoe and Ryan James of Oakland; daughter, Tarnin Barlow of Penn Valley; grandsons Michael Veiga of Tehachapi, Donnie Veiga of Lemoore, Kyle Veiga of Lemoore, Evan Veiga of Foresthill, and Glen Barlow of Penn Valley; granddaughters Kristin L. Veiga of Tempe, Ariz., Kristin Veiga of Foresthill and April Veiga of South Lake Tahoe; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joaquin C. Veiga, in 1966; mother, Stella Veiga, in 2001; sons Donnie Veiga in 2003 and Bret Veiga in 1986; and brother, George Veiga, in 1998.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Sierra Nevada Cancer Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
