Joan Mader

Graveside services for Joan Mary Mader of Rough and Ready will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rough and Ready Cemetery.

Mrs. Mader died Monday, Dec. 2, in Stockton. She was 81.

She was born on May 21, 1921, in Edmonton, Canada, to Frank and Mary O’Neal. She attended Rough and Ready Grammar School and graduated from Nevada Union High School. She married Lawrence Mader in 1950, in Reno, Nev. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rough and Ready School Board and a founding member of the Ready Springs School District board. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing and entertaining friends and family.



She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Sandy Mader of Couer d’Alene, Idaho, Ken and Yvonne Mader of Stockton, and Alan and Sandy Mader of Rough and Ready; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Mader, in 1994; daughter Sharon Osborne; and brother Frank O’Neal.




Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2222 Watt Ave., Suite D-1, Sacramento, 95825.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
