Joan denBroeder

Services for Joan denBroeder of Penn Valley will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.

Mrs. denBroeder died Sunday, Oct. 22, at home. She was 70.

She was born April 22, 1936, in Salinas, to William and Amelia Hook. She graduated from Gonzales High School. She received an bachelor of arts in physical education from San Jose State University. She married George “Jerry” denBroeder on Nov. 27, 1963, at the Brookdale Lodge in the Santa Cruz Mountains. She was a physical education and special education teacher. She was a member of the Lake Wildwood Garden Club, and the Gold Dancers. She enjoyed square dancing, kayaking, gardening, and arts and crafts.



She is survived by her husband, George “Jerry” denBroeder; stepson, Mark denBroeder; son, Jeff denBroeder; stepdaughter, Pam Koch; daughter, Michele Thomsen; and sister, Phylis Albertoni; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center, attention Ayse Turksevn, 155 Glasson Way, Grass Valley, 95945.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
