Jesse Ray Sanford

Jesse Ray Sanford, 76, of Grass Valley died Friday, Jan. 10, at home.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Private burial will be at the Loney Sanford District Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mr. Sanford was born on May 4, 1926, at “The Right Place” Ranch in Yuba County to Jesse Monroe and Nettie Mae (Calvin) Sanford. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1944 to 1946. He married Dolores Barbara Butler on Jan. 1, 1947, in Reno, Nev. He was a cattle rancher for more than 55 years. He was a member of the Nevada County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Sanford of Grass Valley; daughters Raylene Castle of Goodyears Bar, Darlean Dominguez of Grass Valley and Sherry Thompson of Half Moon Bay; son, Darryl Sanford of Grass Valley; brother, Glenn Sanford of Auburn; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Auburn. Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
