Jean Goodhue

No services are planned for Jean Goodhue of Grass Valley, who died Tuesday, July 23, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Goodhue was born June 7, 1914, in Emporia, Kan., to Fred and Rosabell (Walt) Morrill. She attended Sawyer Business College and moved to the Grass Valley area, where she married Roy Coffer in 1934.

They traveled throughout California building and operating sawmills until Mr. Coffer’s death in 1950. She married George Goodhue in 1952 and they owned and operated the Old Brewery Inn in Nevada City until Mr. Goodhue’s death in 1975. After retiring, she enjoyed dining with friends at the Nevada City Senior Apartments.

Mrs. Goodhue is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dolly and Ken Jaynes of Nevada City; brothers Dan Morrill of Long Beach and Wes Morrill of Yachats, Ore.; sister-in-law, Myra Morrill of Nevada City; and granddaughter, Marie Ballistari of Grass Valley. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; brother Ned; and sister, Elaine.

The family prefers memorial contributions to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels.
