‘Jazz & Classic Cars’ theme of this year’s Summer Nights

This year’s 14th annual “Summer Nights” street festival in Nevada City, taking over the downtown area the next three Wednesdays, has a “Jazz & Classic Cars” theme.

During “Summer Nights,” Commercial, Broad, York and North Pine streets are closed to motorized traffic and filled with arts, crafts, food and beverage vendors from 6 to 9 p.m. In addition, five stages offer ongoing jazz-related entertainment.

The annual event attracts a few thousand spectators each week, according to Cathy Whittlesey, Nevada City Chamber of Commerce executive manager.

Free shuttlebuses run between the Nevada County Government Center at Highway 49 and Maidu Avenue and the downtown area from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. each Wednesday

Call the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the street festival, at 265-2692 for any questions.
