Jayne Sailer

Visitation for family and friends of Jayne Rita Sailer of Grass Valley will be conducted from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley. A Catholic prayer service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary. Burial will take place at the New Cathedral Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pa.

Mrs. Sailer died Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital. She was 82.

She was born May 11, 1923, and was raised in Philadelphia and moved to California when she was 55, after retiring as a legal secretary for the County of Santa Barbara. She enjoyed playing the piano by ear and singing in the Sweet Adeline’s and numerous other barbershop and choral groups. She was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Goleta, until she had a severe stroke in 2001.



She is survived by her husband, Charles J. Sailer; children Charlene Sailer, Charles P. Sailer and Roseanne Atchison; sister, Aileen Walsh of Virginia; and brother, Joseph Maguire of Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or the Humane Society.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
