James Sherman

James R. Sherman passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2012, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, Calif. He was 79.

Private services will be held.

James was born Sept.11, 1933, to Myrtle and H.S Sherman in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1955 and then went to Stanford Law School in California, where he graduated in 1960.

He also spent two years in the Army during that time.

James married Janet, his wife of 56 years, in Lakewood, Ohio, in 1956. He practiced law in San Jose until they moved to Lake Wildwood, Calif. James loved golf, bridge and reading. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Janet of Lake Wildwood; daughter, Lisa (John) Torres of San Diego, Calif.; sons, John of Colorado and Ken (Nathalie) Sherman of Encinitas, Calif.; grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Kevin, Sophia, Chloe and Mia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob.

All arrangements are being made by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
