James Sheeley

Memorial services for James D. Sheeley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 24, at Quail Ridge Senior Living, 150 Sutton Way in Grass Valley. Mr. Sheeley died Sunday, Aug. 4. He was 81.

He was born Nov. 22, 1920, in Ridgeway, Pa., to Peter C. and Martha (Smith) Sheeley. He attended school in Scranton, Pa., and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with the 8th Air Force in England from 1942 to 1945.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of Scranton and re-entered the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He became involved in the Air Force missile program and was assistant chief of the Engineering Division, Titan II System Program Office, and he retired in 1972 as a lieutenant colonel.



He and his wife, Joan, became two of the early residents of Lake Wildwood. He was active on committees, including the Advisory Council.

Mr. Sheeley is survived by his daughters Barbara Allred of Danville and Katrina Arabaci of Adana, Turkey; son, Karl Rodefer of Torrance; sister, Barbara Frost of Kane, Pa.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wives, Elizabeth and Joan.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
