James Seitz

James “Jim” W. Seitz, of Grass Valley, died Oct. 8, 2007, at Sienna Care Center in Auburn. He was 89.

A graveside service was held Oct. 18 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mr. Seitz was born in Oakland on Aug. 24, 1918, to Alvin and Adele Seitz. He attended Sequoia and Galileo high schools before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as the manager at P.E. O’Hair Co. Plumbing and Heating in Redwood City.



He married Catherine Morrissey on April 30, 1966.

Mr. Seitz was a former member of the Grass Valley Elks and Auburn Valley Country Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling, oil painting and gardening.




He is survived by his wife, Catherine Seitz of Grass Valley; daughter, Patricia Orner of Sacramento; son, John Fried of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings Mary Williams, Adele Bosch and John Seitz.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hooper and Weaver, Nevada City.
