James Juvinall

James Monroe Juvinall, 84, of Grass Valley died Monday, May 15, in Marysville.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.

Mr. Juvinall was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Spokane, Wash., to Henry Earl and Waneata Verona (VanHorn) Juvinall. He was raised in Venice, Calif., and graduated from Venice High School in 1941. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served for four years. He attended Placer College in Auburn after his discharge from the U.S. Navy. He married Marian Barker on June 1, 1948, in Reno, Nev. He worked in construction with his brother for more than 30 years and built many custom homes in the Grass Valley area. He was a 48-year member of the Grass Valley Elks Lodge No. 538 and an 18-year member of the American Legion, Post 130. He enjoyed sports, camping, traveling and family.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Juvinall of Grass Valley; son, James Earl Juvinall of Nevada City; daughters Cathy Loseke of Anacorte, Wash., and Vicky Lincoln of Grass Valley; grandchildren Aaron, Melissa, Averen and Jesse; and great-grandchildren Elijah, Ethen and James.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
