James Ferrell

James Daniel Ferrell, 82, of Mount Shasta died Friday, Oct. 18, at Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka.

Burial will be at the Nevada City Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Ferrell was born Dec. 2, 1919, in St. Louis. He was a contract analyst for the U.S. government. He lived in Penn Valley before moving to Mount Shasta in 2000. He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member and past president of Masonic Foothills Lodge No. 308; Masonic Lodge No. 13; past patron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star; High Shrine Almalika of Sacramento; and Association of Guardian Bethel No. 29 Job’s Daughters in Monrovia.

He is survived by his sons Thomas Ferrell of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Daniel Ferrell of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter, Marie Pierce of Mount Shasta; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Ferrell, in May 2002.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mount Shasta Memorial Park & Chapel.
