James Fechner

Memorial services for James A. Fechner of Grass Valley are pending.

Mr. Fechner died Monday, March 7, at home. He was 80.

He was born Nov. 25, 1924, in Nebraska, to Walter John and Floyce Fern (Barr) Fechner. He received a B.A. in business from the College of the Pacific in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He married Marion Brimm on July 15, 1950. He retired as Executive Vice President and Director of American Forest Products Company. He was also the President of Foresthill Products and President of Amador Central Railroad. He was a member of the Alta Sierra Country Club where he was active in the Audubon Certification of the country club environment and on several club committees. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed golf.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Fechner of Grass Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cheryle Fechner of El Dorado Hills; daughter, Betsy Ramey of Hawaii; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Leslie Fechner of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren Jackie Werley, Jake and Kyle Ramey and James Fechner; and great-grandchild, Elizabeth Werley. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Floyce Fechner.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
