James Fairbanks

Private memorial services for James William Fairbanks of Grass Valley will be conducted.

Mr. Fairbanks died Wednesday, March 2, in Grass Valley. He was 80.

He was born June 4, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., to George Lee Fairbanks and Esther Patterson. He graduated from the University of Detroit as an electrical engineer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorothy La Plant on July 12, 1947, in Detroit, Mich.



He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy F. Fairbanks of Grass Valley; daughter, Sandra F. Fairbanks of Grass Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Colleen F. Fairbanks and Paul Knowlton of Austin, Texas; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Sarah and Ashley Kayler of Berkeley; grandson, Dylan Fairbanks of Oakland; great-granddaughters Phoenix Kayler, and Delta Kayler both of Berkeley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sierra Center for Positive Living, P.O. Box 1439, Nevada City, 95959.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
