Private services for James A. Christensen have been conducted.

Mr. Christensen died Wednesday, April 28, at Coquille Valley Hospital in Coquille, Ore. He was 66.

He was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Hollywood to Clarence Christensen and Florence (Davies) Christensen. He graduated from Gardena High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy as a 1st Class Sonarman from 1956 to 1960. He married Janet Martin on Sept. 12, 1959, in Van Nuys. He was a former resident of Grass Valley for 25 years. He owned and operated Eastridge Pool Service for 21 years in Grass Valley. He was the assistant chief at Watt Park Fire Department for 13 years. He enjoyed photography, woodcrafts and refurbishing automobiles.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Christensen; daughter, Loralee Christensen; son, Gary Christensen; father-in-law, Lloyd Martin; and grandchildren Miles Christensen, Mallory Christensen, Jared Hingorani and Logan Christensen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
