James Byrd

A celebration potluck barbecue for James Lee “Byrd Man” Byrd of Grass Valley will be conducted at noon Saturday at the Memorial Park barbecue area in Grass Valley. Mr. Byrd died Wednesday, May 1, in Grass Valley. He was 34.

He was born May 15, 1967, in Upland to Roy and Jan Byrd. He worked for Waste Management of Grass Valley.

He is survived by his mother, Janice Shipely of Hesperia; brother, Jason Byrd of Hesperia; children Anthony Roy Byrd and Tiffany Nicole Byrd, both of Grass Valley; and Candice Nicole Hernandez of Ontario; fiance, Lynn Allen of Grass Valley; and her daughter, Katra, of Grass Valley. He was preceded in death by his father, George Roy Byrd.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
