James Blanchard

James Mervin Blanchard, 85, of Grass Valley died Saturday, Feb. 16, in Grass Valley.

No services are planned.

Mr. Blanchard was born July 16, 1916, in Santa Cruz to Royal and Maud Meyer Blanchard. He graduated from University High School in Oakland. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 669th Bomber Squadron, from 1942 to 1945.

He was retired as an aviation mechanic for United Airlines. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Order, Bay Cities Lodge in Richmond. He enjoyed photography.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Blanchard of Cedar Ridge; nieces Jean Day of Cedar Ridge and Janet Bray of Penn Valley; nephew, Royal Blanchard of Grass Valley; and numerous grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins in California and Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Milton and Royal Blanchard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Homes Endowment Fund.
