James Beta-Fowler Sr.

A potluck barbecue will be conducted in honor of James “Sonny” Larue Beta-Fowler Sr. of Camptonville at his home on May 4.

Mr. Beta-Fowler died Wednesday, April 17, at home. He was 58.

He was born July 9, 1943, in Oktaha, Okla., to John Larue Beta and Ruby Mae Huggard.

He was a seaman in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1960 to 1966.

He married Georgette on Sept. 23, 1972, in Reno.

He had lived Camptonville for 30 years. He was active in many community services there, including the Camptonville Christmas Club, where he played “Sonny” Claus for many years. He enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Georgette Fowler of Camptonville; son, James Fowler Jr. of Camptonville; stepdaughters Kathi Daniels of Camptonville and Neosho, Mo., Debbie Benally of Barstow and Jackie Lake of Springfield, Mo.; niece, Jolene Reid of Citrus Heights; nephew, Lee Burnett of Sparks, Nev.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels.
